Photographer Henryk shares an exclusive look at his second annual Christmas card. Titled ‘An Australian Christmas’, the Sydney-based creative showcases what the holidays look like in the Southern Hemisphere. Models Trix, Yaya, Lilia, Alma and Luiza pose on the beach in summer-ready attire. Their accessories include surfboards and even fish and chips. Stylist Jess Pecoraro selects a mix of swimwear and ladylike dresses from the likes of Ellery, Christopher Esber and Sandro. For beauty, hairstylist Sharon Blain creates beachy waves for the models. And makeup artist Desiree Wise gives the girls a sun-kissed glow.
The photographer shares the inspiration behind his Christmas card project. “I started this project last year as I love shooting group images, and it’s hard to sell clients on them due to the model fees involved. So I started to experiment last year at a Christmas tree farm with the models being farm hands. [They were] holding the sticks that measures the value of the trees and the pick forks etc. I then printed them with a gold foiled ‘happy holidays’.”
Henryk continues, “After that I decided to shoot one per year each Christmas, and my second one is ‘An Australian Christmas’, as we have such a hot summer here. The reality is fish and chips by the beach. [That’s] what we normally do! I built the oversized bench and painted it. And might or might not use it every year. We will see! I’m excited to shoot next year’s one now!”
