Carmen Kass by Miles Aldridge for Vogue Italia March 2011

Haute couture takes on a stoic yet beautiful approach with Miles Aldridge’s dinner party themed story for this month’s Vogue Italia. Starring Carmen Kass as a woman of high society styled by Alice Gentilucci, the creations of Givenchy, Valentino and Chanel Haute Couture take center stage in Precious Glamour.

Lots of classic and iconic images! And I spy the dress Cate Blanchette wore to the Oscars – (or the one very similar to it) – fashion critics where divided on this one

Indeed, Carmen Kass is almost unrecognizable. Another genuine editorial from Italian Vogue.

I was amazed by the Spring couture this year, especially Givenchy and Dior. All the dresses reflect beautifly in editorials. Only one, kinda major negative tho: her chest in 1st (or 2nd counting one above the description) looks very droopy. Its never a good look for a woman.

The lighting is so brutal and flattening that Carmen Kass appears as formless as a paper cutout, and all the beautiful color is ravaged beyond recognition by the illumination’s orange-y hue. What these scenes lack is mood. And nothing is less engaging than indifference.

Carmen was a bad choice, and as mentioned above, the lighting/orange hue is off-putting. I think a brunette should have been used
