Classic Chanel stuff with modern twist such as bejewled and sequened pants/tights. I’ll be in minority, and thats ok, but I really dont mind mixing pants with dresses…especially when they are adorned in sequence. I love this collection. Its classic, its feminine, its Chanel.
Great casting, though some of the pieces look rather awkward. I don’t like the pants + dresses either and some of the skirts look weird (e.g. Maddie Kulicka’s).

Horrible legs of the models with these clothes seem to stick.
if you look at the Dior show and this.. darn, they’re on a whole different planet!
people say Galliano should step out of his comfort zone but hey, THAT was couture..the very definition of it!
Thats true. Chanel couture is no different than the RTW stuff every season, just more sparkly I guess….Galliano is truly a MASTER.
Couture is NOT STYLE. It is a way of sewing. Actually, directly translated it mens “fine/high sewing”. In other words for clothes to be couture there are only technical requirements, the clothes are sewn in hand and looks as good on the outside as on the inside.
Bottom line: RTW is VERY different from couture – not just “more sparkly”.
And btw Scokocrossant: dont refer to a definition you know nothing about.

Sophie, with all due respect, myself and the Schokokroissant, and pretty much anyone who likes fashion and visits this site KNOWS the definition of Couture and what goes into it. We are simply nothing the fact that garments are too similar LOOKING to what we see on RTW runways. No doubt goes into the craftsmanship of the couture vs rtw, its simply observing that BOTH look similar on the runway.
Dior Couture LOOKS like Couture, and for the record, NOBODY mentioned the word STYLE until you did. Thats all.

Looking very awkward and too puffy in the wrong spots. pants with a dress is fine if done correctly. This stuff is too square and too puffy!
I will agree on the boxy part. When add pants with that, its like swimming in clothing. A bit overwhelming for a womans body. But the flowy dresses towards the end are quite divine 🙂
I agree with the above posts about it looking similar to their RTW collections, but if I could remember correctly, I don’t think Chanel ever took the “Christian Dior Approach” and I think it would be very odd and very un-chanel like if they did.
Overall, I really love almost every look here and the color scheme.
The only time I can remember Chanel stepping out of comfort zone (as of recently) is when they did that alien/minny mouse hair…that kinda took me by suprise…

I thought it was actually brilliant….but you’re right. Chanel would never do what Dior does….
Can I ask you JJovana3 purely out of curiosity whether you have a job or not? I am just wondering how you have time to comment so much on almost every post. Thanks.
LOL, Not everybody working 9-5
I second the person below you. Not everyone is 9-5. The reason why I respond to people’s posts is because I like starting discussions rather than just commenting….this is one of my favorite fashion sites. Even if I didnt have a job, its really none of your business, but thanks for the concern. Have a nice day.

Something is very strange about the camera angle in all these shots, all these tall and leggy models look kind of squashed and stumpy. I suspect the camera/photographer has a lot to answer for. The proportions are all wrong. What a shame!

this is a horrible collection! the clothes look awkward on the models and and i struggled to click through all 4 pages without yawning from boredom- seriously uncle karl needs to find a new direction as all his collections from rtw to couture seem to look the same!
there are some stunning pieces. i love the detail, the flowy skirts, the color palette. However, the boxiness and waistlessness and odd shapes just don’t appeal to me. I don’t like most of the pants either. disappointing overall.
Beautiful hair and makeup though.
hate it
some garments are very awkward. is it really necessary to have a jacket with a skirt AND pants? and also the bunching of the sequined pants on the models very long legs is just so unflattering when they are perfect. it’s not all awful though. some pieces are quite beautiful and i think that the use of the black flats was kind of clever and unexpected.
UM.. I don’t get it.. How can anyone make the likes of Stella Tennant look 5’3″. Not flattering!!
those pieces are very unflattering and look really awkward, as a lot of people above had already mentioned. not feeling it. and what the * is this? https://s3.amazonaws.com/fgr/2011/1/4/chanelcouture29.jpg
