In an extravagant presentation featuring over eighty models, the spring 2011 collection from Chanel was unveiled in true Parisian fashion at the Grand Palais. The runway was designed to resemble the gardens of Versailles with models presenting an array of traditional Chanel tweed jackets as well as bursting floral prints, feathers and other ornate decorations. In addition to the clothes, another highlight of the show was the appearance of Ines de la Fressange, the first model to sign an exclusive contract with the fashion house. Ines walked the runway and appeared with creative director Karl Lagerfeld during the show’s closing.

  1. I’ll probably be in minority when I say this, but I hate this. Its dull, uninspiring and kinda boring. Yes the model selection is perfect, the location is amazing, but these clothes dont do anything for me. I dont even like the Taylor Momsen racoon makeup. That little brat killed that trend. Some of the jeans and those tiny shorts made models legs look stumpy and strange.

  3. I really don’t like this 🙁 the feathery pale pink dress has some potential on its own, but needs the right person to wear it and not be swamped. The only highlight for me is Ines.

  7. The cloth make these skinny models look fat and ugly, the shoes are even worse, so cheap and boring. To be honest, I don’t remember when Chanel amazed me last time, it’s getting worse and worse. sadddddddddddd

    • I dont think it can get worse than the Chewbacca, Yeti Monster that was the fall collection. I still have nightmares about those ugly hideous clothes.

  9. this is an overall speaking boring presentation. Models, perfect; Location, perfect, details, perfect. However the most essential thing, the design spirit is missing! The whole collection is more like a super combo of rock&roll kids mixing up their outfits by messing around with their moms’ wardrobe! Yes, I did have the grey jeans with snowflake dots when I was 14 living in boarding school. Thought it was cool at that time, but now, it’s just a youthful memory.

I am totally not impressed at all.

  10. Indeed the shoes are awful, but some pieces are really great. But,all in all, this spring collection is rather disappointing in comparison to the Dior collection, this one does not evocate spring for me at all.
