The live-action version of ‘Cinderella’ officially hits theaters in the US today, and to celebrate, Saks Fifth Avenue has teamed up with nine shoe designers for a reimagining of the iconic glass slipper—one of the most important aspects of Cinderella’s costume. From traditional looks to more creative designs, check out all nine looks below from the likes of Jimmy Choo, Salvatore Ferragamo and Alexandre Birman. The shoes can be found at Saks’ 10022-SHOE salons in New York and Beverly Hills.
Charlotte Olympia created a transparent platform shoe for her design featuring her signature PVC and perspex materials with star and crystal adornments.Jerome Rousseau went in a nontraditional direction with a shoe inspired by the stroke of midnight—playing off the color of the sky at night. The clear strap serves as a reminder of crystal slipper with gold and silver embellishments.Jimmy Choo creative director Sandra Choi created a sparkling shoe that was meant to have “a feminine, timeless silhouette evoking those childhood emotions [of wanting a Cinderella moment]”.Nicholas Kirkwood went whimsical for his Cinderella inspired designer featuring a bow, lace and a hint of turquoise.Designer Paul Andrew said that “Cinderella’s glass slipper represents every woman’s dream shoe,” and he created a transparent PVC look for a glass effect paired with ivory suede and hand encrusted Swarovski crystals.Rene Caovilla opted for a look with blue and pink tones, trading in the traditional clear and silver look. Full of sparkle and shine, it truly is a fantasy. Salvatore Ferragamo creative director Massimiliano Giornetti created a shoe with transparency including Swarovski crystals and black accents.Stuart Weitzman went for a more modern shoe silhouette with a diamond and see-through bootie.
