i am no prude by any means, but sometimes i wonder when nudity is used so much in shoots-when it becomes gratuitous and less about the art of it and more about the photographer's crutch. this comment is not directly aimed at just this shoot, just a general observation about the motives behind a lot of fashion stories. seeing nudity for nudity's sake in every fashion magazine is getting boring, in my opinion.

rachel, I can get on board with that and I agree sometimes. I have been looking at fashion for over 30 years and have always loved implied nudity. Nothing is sexier than wondering.

Yes, leave things to the imagination! Love the ones with the lace bodysuits. Not so much the ones where the accessories are in the crotch. That's tasteless.

i agree! implied is so much more interesting–the seventh shot down where missy has the very sheer black dress on is gorgeous but the rest do not really reach that quality in my opinion. i have to be honest that there is a phenomenon i have witnessed where some male photographers get so excited to shoot a big girl that they ask to shot her naked on set when it doesn't make a cohesive story–i really dislike the missy topless shots with the lv belt as an example…on the other hand, i love love love mario sorrenti's nudes for purple. if you are going to shoot nudity, you must bring an angle to it-

It has nothing to do about getting a big name shooting naked and the photographer loosing the story… He has shot her nude before and many other big names … Just check out his site and have a clue before judging… And Rachel the shot you did not like… Missy with the belt is the cover of the Elle – Louis Vuitton 2010 Calendar…. Rachel , there is a client decision as well try to keep that in mind as well..

volkan-everyone is entitled to their own opinion. like i said i loved the one shot and the rest i didn't. i love louis vuitton, but that doesn't mean i have to like how it is photographed. i saw the photographer's site and there are some shoots that i really really liked. to each their own. that is the beauty of the comments section, though i apologize if it came across as insulting. this is how the photos came across to me.

All class! The black and white shots are a timeless record of beauty.

Anything done too much can get old, clearly. But nudity used by a talented fashion photographer is often interesting simply because nudity isn't the only interesting thing about the photo. Second, given all the mediocre nude photography on the net, it's pleasing to see it done right.

This shoot is AMAZINg and the nudity is full of splendor! I love Koray Birand's work!
