Chai’s Mix & Match Spring – Richard Chai stuck to his androgynous, boyish appeal for the spring 2012 collection of “Richard Chai Love” shown during New York Fashion Week. There was an undertone of 90s grunge with floral prints, stripes and geometric shapes in a mix and match of colors and patterns. Light layers culminated in a sleek combination of shorts, skirts and pants that give a sporty vibe to the relaxed silhouettes. Structured yet deconstructed, the spring collection truly showed that opposites attract.

Masculine Resort – Richard Chai brings a low-key androgynous appeal to the resort 2012 season with his “Love” collection. Slouchy silhouettes and men’s style dress shoes offset ultra-feminine patterns of florals and dots. Playing with proportion and length, the Chai woman takes on volume with clean lines and muted hues. / Photos by Jason Kim, Styling by Tom van Dorpe

Richard Chai looked towards menswear tailoring for his fall 2011 womenswear collection. Hard grays, billowing shapes and a hint of classic tailoring juxtaposed with the feminine figure for the new season. As the lineup came to an end, masculine designs gave way to looser silhouettes complete with floral prints and stripes.
