Marc Meets Instagram–The models you see in Marc by Marc Jacobs’ fall 2014 campaign are not signed to any agencies, but are in fact casted from Instagram after a competition with the hashtag #CastMeMarc was held this April. WWD revealed the campaign images featuring real people with colorful ‘dos ranging from blue to pink hair wearing the graphic and bold designs of the season. David Sims photographed the advertisements while Katie Grand of LOVE Magazine worked as stylist. “It seemed like a great idea to me, as casting through Instagram seemed cool, current and strong,” Jacobs says. “We wanted the ads to shout with youth and energy…to be fresh and reclaim the spirit that the collection had when we first conceived of it — to be another collection, not a second line.”
