Isabel Marant’s Western Fall – Not a label known for following trends, the fall 2012 collection from Isabel Marant let its carefree spirit fly with the designer’s latest presentation shown during Paris Fashion Week. Inspired by southwestern style and cowgirls, autumn embraced feminine ruffles, floral detailing, casual denim and leather. Fringe and metallic accents brought an authentic touch to the well-tread theme. A muted color palette with pops of scarlet, electric blue and pink grounded the new season with a modern take on old west style.

Wang’s Pared Down Fall – After last season’s array of prints and racing motifs, Alexander Wang chose a more pared down approach for his fall 2012 show featuring an all-star cast including Gisele Bundchen, Shalom Harlow, Frankie Rayder and Karolina Kurkova amongst others. This season went back to Wang’s roots albeit a tad more polished with leather coats, netted masks which covered models’ lower faces and knitted sweaters. The collection was minimal with a focus on embellishments such as military inspired accents on trench coats, chiffon tops and sculpted shoulders. Despite its simplicity, the showing turned out to be one of the designer’s strongest efforts yet proving less is indeed more.

Moroccan Delights – Etro’s colorful explosion of prints finds a Moroccan setting for its spring 2012 campaign starring Carmen Kass, Ella Kandyba, Ophelie Rupp and male models Bruce Machado and Andres Risso. Captured by Mario Testino, the group soaks up the sun with loose-fitting silhouettes and distressed hair.
