Giles’ Imperfect Glamour – For fall 2012, designer Giles Deacon showcased glamorous looks with an imperfect edge for his namesake collection presented during London Fashion Week. The runway was dominated by menswear inspire looks such a modified tuxedo and frilly dresses embellished with feathers and burn-like patterns. As the show progressed, the tuxedo jackets gave way to form-fitting dresses featuring messy cut-outs almost as if a razor had been used on the fabric. Giles’ innovative take on classic shapes such as the hoop skirt or fish tail dress offered a thrilling view of the upcoming season.

Proenza Schouler’s Cool Woman – After spring’s secretarial inspired fashion, Proenza Schouler designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough focused on modern, Japanese inspired silhouettes for fall 2012. Models hit the runway in androgynous shapes with asymmetrical necklines and skin-baring hemlines. A color palette of pure white graduated into electric blue, burgundy and crimson red hues matched with Eastern patterns. A story of contrast, Proenza’s protagonist was elegant yet sporty, modern yet classic, youthful yet mature for the new season.

The Mad Hatter – For fall 2012, Marc Jacobs teamed up with milliner Stephen Jones to help envision his latest collection filled with oversize and floppy hats that could easily belong to Alice in Wonderland’s Mad Hatter. Playing with the fairytale theme, Jacobs offered a fantastical play on proportions in the form of bulky skirts and jackets layered expertly for the autumn season. The color palette was steeped in moody hues with accents of gold, powder pink and lilac. Patterns ranged from paisley to floral which broke up the heavy silhouettes with levity. The show ended on a more subdued note, featuring a few pared down ensembles that lengthened in hemlines and flattened in shape.

Gone for a Ride – Herve Leger by Max Azria’s fall 2012 collection was equestrian inspired with a hint of motorcycle culture thrown in for good measure. Beginning with a strong black, models hit the runway in body conscious ensembles cinched at the waist. Keeping with the equestrian theme, Leger’s signature bandage dresses were accented by leather harnesses, fringe and gladiator style boots. The hard look was softened with graphic prints, peekaboo cutouts and fur-adorned cropped jackets. Certainly not for the faint of heart, the fall collection is made for a woman who dares to walk on the rebellious side.

Breath of Spring – Elsa Sylvan stars in a pared down beauty story for Russh Magazine #44. Shot by Elle Muliarchyk, the blonde beauty wears the spring designs of Miu Miu, Chanel, Rodarte and Prada pieced together by Gillian Wilkins. The intimate images are perfected by barely there makeup by Cynthia Rose and tousled locks by Luke Baker.
