Gurung’s Sumptuous Fall – For fall 2012, Prabal Gurung presented an array of form-fitting, body hugging silhouettes in a deep palette of electric blue, gold and black. Continuing a use of psychedelic prints, this season also gave way to rich metallic fabrics, sumptuous leather and feather adorned gowns. Luxe coats and sweaters served as outerwear for fall with puffy sleeves and gloves. Overall, Gurung showcased an eclectic collection–part light and part dark–which ranged from traditional sportswear to stunning gowns.

Layered Up – For fall 2012, Rag & Bone designers Marcus Wainwright and David Neville focused on layering with a strong, almost androgynous offering of outerwear in a dark color palette complementary to the winter season. Making this one of the duo’s most tailored collections to date, models walked down the runway in sharply suited jackets, eclectic prints and tapered pants. Despite this polished front, the Rag & Bone DNA was ever-present with sporty pieces featuring metallic fabrics, hooded coats and two-toned pants for a sleek and modern fall outing.

The Power of Three – Model Sui He, actress Li Bing Bing and it girl Chen Ran are tapped for Lane Crawford’s spring 2012 campaign, shot by Mert & Marcus. Styled by Panos Yiapanis, the trio shows off different personalities in sleek designs from the likes of Azzedine Alaïa, Alexander McQueen, Alexander Wang, Balenciaga and Céline available in the fashion retailer’s store. Candy Couture – Elie Saab presented a romantic collection of ivory and pastel hues of powder blue, rose and wheat for his spring 2012 haute couture show in Paris earlier today. Known for designing many red carpet creations, this season had its fair share of Oscars ready fare ranging from crystal embellished floor length gowns to leafy prints in mint green. The delicate showing also offered ladylike lace works and sequined paillettes for a sweetly refined take on couture.

Skyline Couture – Karl Lagerfeld appeared to be inspired by air travel and stewardess uniforms for Chanel’s spring 2012 haute couture collection presented earlier today. The Grand Palais was transformed into the interior of an airplane with models walking down the aisles in elongated silhouettes and extended shoulder winged sleeves. Playing up the jetsetter theme, blue was a dominate hue for spring with sky blue, sapphire and navy all making an appearance. Amid the blue display, there is crystal beading, drop pocket dresses and pleated skirts.

Couture Mood – With spring 2012 Haute Couture, Dior atelier Bill Gaytten delivers a ladylike collection featuring a tame color palette of ash, black, plum and ivory. Cinched waists, sheer tops and full, pleated skirts dominate the runway this season. Playing with prints, the Dior woman also wears hounds tooth, floral patterns and gradient lines for spring. The finale dresses were demure as well, showing a moody mix of black and grey with just a touch of sparkle.
