Tisci Couture – Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci created a dark outing for the label’s spring 2012 haute couture show. Models including Natasha Poly, Kristen McMenamy and Saskia de Brauw wore oversize bullrings and earrings which also made an appearance in Givenchy’s menswear show earlier this month. These unusual accessories bring a certain harshness to the ten couture looks made of crocodile scales, leather and hand beaded crystals. Despite the change from last season’s ethereal gowns of ivory, Tisci managed to create an enchanting collection that was a cross between punk rocker and turn of the century glamour girl.

Birds of Paradise – Riccardo Tisci delivers heavenly creations for Givenchy’s fall 2011 haute couture collection. Modeled by Mariacarla Boscono, Daphne Groeneveld, Joan Smalls, Caroline Trentini, Izabel Goulart, Zuzanna Bijoch, Iselin Steiro, Saskia de Brauw and Kasia Struss; the ivory gowns of romantic chantilly lace, airy feathers and gauzy silk tulle show structured yet delicate workmanship.

Givenchy’s spring 2011 couture showing gives way to another presentation this season with ten looks by designer Riccardo Tisci. Unique to the showing was a cast of all Asian models including Shu Pei, Ming Xi, Tao Okamoto, Hye Rim Park, Fei Fei Sun, Liu Wen, Jiang Xiao Yi, Ai Tominaga, So Young Kang and Du Juan. Perhaps the casting can be attributed the Eastern influence of the collection found in the delicate folds, structured shapes and warrior like headpieces inspired by Japanese artwork.

Rich autumn colors of orange, brown and red hues dominate the pre-fall collection from Diane von Furstenberg. Experimenting with color and proportion the clothing features the designer’s signature pattern work and wrap dresses with above the knee cuts.

Narciso Rodriguez jumps into the new season with tailored coats and feminine separates. With knee-length outerwear and leather pieces, the pre-fall collections is for a sophisticated yet undeniably tough woman. The muted color palette is offset with shades of coral and stark black.

Calvin Klein offers its signature minimal yet refined aesthetic for the pre-fall season. Bringing a hint of rebelliousness to its austere image, the label offers leather work in the form of a sack dress and oversize top. The pre-fall collection can be summed up in two words: long and lean–the billowing silhouettes worn by Simona Andrejic are a perfect fit for those looking to show a little leg in between the summer and fall seasons.
