Proenza’s Strict Spring – Proenza Schouler designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough took their contemporary lady in a more button-up yet revealing direction for the spring 2012 season. The duo’s collection featured midriff baring cuts, 40s inspired silhouettes and a mix of stripe and floral prints. Strong shoulders paired with mussed hair and modest makeup told a story of a strength and femininity for the new season.

Sui’s Cinematic Spring – For Anna Sui’s spring 2012 collection, the designer was inspired by American fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez. Indeed the new season looked as it came straight out of a sketchbook page with bold brash colors that gave a nod to fashion ranging from the 40s to 70s. For spring, Sui moved away from the western inspired look of seasons past but continued to use feminine prints and dolled-up accessories. The larger life looks were completed by red lips, retro hair and rouge blush fit for the silver screen.

Mendel’s Sensual Spring – J. Mendel’s spring 2012 collection alternated between patchwork style prints and sleek silhouettes that accent the female figure. Taking on this season’s trend of sheer, lightweight dresses, designer Giles Mendel used vertical stripes paired with color blocking for a sexy yet sophisticated look. For beauty, the Mendel woman donned wavy side-swept locks and sun-kissed skin.

Kors’ Safari Spring - Michael Kors took a trip on an African safari for his spring 2012 collection unveiled during New York Fashion Week today. The American designer gave his sportswear an edge with animal and tribal prints, frayed edges and python accents. Using a warm color palette of mustard, nude, marmalade and tan, the Kors’ woman takes a walk on the wild side for the new season.

Full of vibrant jewel tones, lace bodices and tailored suits, de la Renta brought his refined elegance to New York Fashion week in full force. With a smattering of floral prints, the new season embraces full voluminous skirts and form-fitting day wear dresses.

Herve Leger’s Roman Getaway – Herve Leger by Max Azria delivered gladiator chic for its spring 2012 collection shown during New York Fashion Week today. Complete with a reworked gladiator boot, Leger’s signature bandage dresses and metallic embellishments, the models looked ready to enter battle in gold and silver dresses paired with stark hair and makeup.
