Black & white can often be used to highly beautiful effect, but here I think it does nothing to complement the story and makes each image look too similar. The whole ed is nowhere near as dynamic as the cover. The single image that was in color I do find interesting though.

The cover offered so much promise, and yet the actual editorial falls flat on its face.
With the planking, the overusage of the miniature corset, plus the continual appearance of the cow ring, this editorial surpassed tasteful long ago.

It doesn’t make me feel comfortable. I believe it’s too strict. The model’s expressions, the corsets, poses (planking much?) and facial piercings are way too much!

no no no…this makes me cringe. The stillness of most of the poses is totally Karl’s style. doesn’t make for a good editorial here.

Why is she laying tits-down on the entrance table like that? And what’s up with her egg-catch-the-sperm position out doors against the window? I get the feeling the creatives involved were struggling a bit to hard to make this story original. C’mon Meisel, you’ve all ready proven yourself. Its Stella Tennant for crying out loud. Just take a pretty picture of her.

I like this.The flow is nice..the photo with the corset on the neck made me laugh. Subtle comedy in the styling. Stella used to have that nose piercing and it references the women who wear these corsets and have piercings like this. It adds an edge to the strictness but keeps it faithful to the reference. Perfect casting.

They all bring a different piece to an overall story so there are some weaknesses but they are relevent as they make the story full.The last one is so nice with the curve of the leaves behind and the shapes of the background mimicking the body. It just wraps it up in a nice heavy way. A lot of depth in this it’s wonderful

I love Italian Vogue and Stella Tennant so this is a match made in Heaven for me. I think a lot of Meisel’s work for Italian Vogue is a reaction against mainstream fashion photography. I think they give him a lot of freedom to explore the genre and to satirize the fashion world and turn it on its head. I’m glad an artist as skilled as Meisel has a platform that supports this kind of art. I think it’s a spoof on how seriously fashion takes itself and how “disciplined” the characters in the fashion world are at molding themselves to the next trend i.e. waist size, pilates, yoga as fat-burning not meditation. Sense of humor and social commentary aside, these b/w images are very strong with line, shape, negative space. They are provocative, but the best art usually is.
