The superhero takeover of television includes CBS’ upcoming adaptation of ‘Supergirl’ starring Melissa Benoist as the Kara Zor-El. Kara is Superman’s cousin who struggles between taking on the role of superhero and keeping her true identity a secret. The official show synopsis reads: “Born on the planet Krypton, Kara Zor-El escaped amid its destruction years ago with her famous cousin. Now at the age 24, she finally embraces her superhuman abilities to be the hero she was always meant to be.”
