Yesterday, New York Fashion Week was brought to a close after a week of shows. Designers previewed their spring 2014 collections and showed off new styles for the upcoming season. We couldn’t help but notice several trends that popped up this season, and some were even surprising. Check out our list of five New York Fashion Week trends below.
The 90s Trend
They say that fashion is cyclical and everything comes back in fashion after twenty years. It looks like the nineties are back in full swing this runway season. For some designers, the nineties took form in minimal shapes while others looked towards bold colors and lingerie inspired looks. See Proenza Schouler’s minimal look.
90s—Alexander Wang showed off a nineties inspired showcase for his spring runway. A model wears a crop top paired with slouchy trousers. The proportions take this look into the new decade.
90s–Rag & Bone embraced the nineties with a mix of prints and overalls. Designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright updated the look by using light colors. Chunky platform sandals seemed to be inspired by the latter part of the decade.
90s – The BCBG Max Azria woman wore deconstructed looks inspired by nature and modern art. But the clean lines and minimal color remind us of 90s looks. The sheer paneling and touches of floral prints give the spring season a sleek look.
