Barneys’ Latest Collaboration–Yasmin Sewell is set to release an 18-piece capsule collection for Barneys, reports British Vogue. The collection, which will launch in a few weeks, will feature outerwear, dresses, knitwear and separates. “I had to think global,” says Sewell of the collection. “It had to be wearable enough, elegant enough, commercial enough – but also each piece had to be the kind of item you know you’ll want to hang on to forever. I kept all the silhouettes pretty sophisticated, but really pushed on fabric, color and of course quality, which wasn’t an issue at Barneys. The collection is produced by one of the best makers in Italy.”
So how did the collaboration between the fashion consultant turned street style favorite happen? She says Barneys senior fashion director Tomoko Ogura called her one day saying she had her in mind for a project, but Sewell wasn’t really sure what it was about. “When she asked I said yes immediately, I mean it’s Barneys… why wouldn’t you? As a former buyer and a retailer for so many years, Barneys was always one of my favourite places on earth. I was honestly so flattered when they asked me.”
