For Balenciaga’s fall-winter 2015 collection, creative director Alexander Wang focused on cocoon shapes for another take on brand founder Cristobal Balenciaga’s sculptural designs. Cocoon coats, bubble-shaped skirts and wrap around skirts with high-slits all left a feeling of wrapped up, restraint for the upcoming season. A dark color palette of deep reds, black, grey, white with spots of metallic silver add a futuristic touch to autumn. Contrasting the modern shapes, ladylike accessories like pearl earrings, striped scarves, brooches and chain-adorned handbags soften the Balenciaga woman’s hard edges.
