Inspired by spring’s trend of tribal patterns, photographer David Sims and fashion editor Grace Coddington highlight pieces from Balenciaga, Givenchy and Alexander McQueen in The Warrior Way. Published in March’s American Vogue, the nature-loving editorial releases Daria Werbowy‘s inner warrior.

I think that the least expressive editorials for Daria are always in U.S. publications. This is stale as far as I'm concerned. There's nothing special about it. And it's unfortunate to think that such an excellent duo teamed up for the shoot.
i agree there's not much expression, however this shoot is far more interesting than the usual Vogue US editorials, which show the model jumping, skipping in mid -air (with a forced smile of course). this why i go for italian vogue.
If you ask me, she's literally pouring out boredom in a couple of the shots. And we all know Daria as much more than that. As pertains to what you wrote, Italian vogue is a world away… a much better publication.

I love the dresses they chose, from Rodarte to McQueen and all the accessories. The styling is flawless, and the tribal tattoos were incredible. The theme was great too. But something went wrong- why is Daria so expressionless, almost boring. Instead of being powerful and expressive like the dresses themselves, she looks like a mannequin, or even amateur. This was incredibly disappointing, and had the potential to be incredible.

I think Its another great editorials of Daria, like always.. With such strong character of the outfits / the shoes / tattoos you don’t wanna overpower everything else, the look really needs to be as simple as it is.

I like the tribal paint. But this is so-obviously Avatar..
I was thinking the same. Especially the 8 picture, so inspired by Avatar! But it's really great!
I was just gonna say! Totally avatar!
you guys need to check Rodarte's 2010 Spring Collection that tribal painting was taken after the show…it does looks a little Avatar but I also think that the ethnic trend had nothing to do with the movie, and was all over this season.

Yes, but the whole setup with the lush greens and sparkling water made me think of Avatar immediately.

Pity the energy isn't more vibrant… it could have been a beautiful editorial. Love the rodarte inspired body art.

exactly the same expression in every single photo. Vogue US is definitely not the best.
maybe it's not the magazine, but the model! daria is dull . can't wait for the day she retires.

Don't get why Daria looks so dull… Pretty shots in theory, but very flat.

This is awful. This would have been the perfect opportunity for some diversity. Really?– for a tribal theme, they’re using Daria? Haven’t we seen her enough? Isn’t there a huge lack of diversity in this industry as it is? I’m not surprised, but as always, disappointed.
That was a bit random…

i'm not a fan of daria either. there is nothing interesting or attractive about her. and she's not a good model.

i agree it lacks excitement….it could have been a really vibrant, successful shoot in that setting.

I think the lack of expression is deliberate – it's another nod to Avatar (which is obviously a major influence on this shoot as it is mentioned right there on the second page). Due to the fact that the Na'vi characters in Avatar are computer generated they lack a certain emotional quality. I wouldn't be surprised if Daria was directed by David and Grace to to be expressionless – so she appeared more like the Na'vi.

I think the only strong shot is the “bow & arrow one” the rest is ???? I think the chemistry with Daria & the Photographer is not there?? they need to smoke before the shoot just to create a drama>>
