A week after Raf Simons announced his exit as Dior’s creative director, news has hit that Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz is leaving the French fashion house after 14 years at the helm. Elbaz is credited with reviving the fashion house with his ladylike designs. According to WWD, the split is due to recent tension between Elbaz and the French label’s owner.
The fashion website reported the news along with a copy of his letter to the Lanvin design team which read: “I wish to express my gratitude and warm thoughts to all those who have worked with me passionately on the revival of Lanvin over the last 14 years; express my affection to all my wonderful colleagues in the Lanvin ateliers who accompanied me, and who enriched and supported my work.”
Although it may appear that Elbaz could be headed to Dior, WWD notes that there has yet to be any recent talks between the two. A replacement has yet to be named, and Lanvin’s spring 2016 collection will be the designer’s last for the brand.
