Givenchy’s spring 2011 couture showing gives way to another presentation this season with ten looks by designer Riccardo Tisci. Unique to the showing was a cast of all Asian models including Shu Pei, Ming Xi, Tao Okamoto, Hye Rim Park, Fei Fei Sun, Liu Wen, Jiang Xiao Yi, Ai Tominaga, So Young Kang and Du Juan. Perhaps the casting can be attributed the Eastern influence of the collection found in the delicate folds, structured shapes and warrior like headpieces inspired by Japanese artwork.

    • I think they are kinda hard to understand…Im still on the fence about them….they kinda distract from gorgeous details on the dresses….

  1. Funny, the influences here strike me as more Celtic/Nordic, of course using Asian models give the clothes a striking accent. Between this and the Armani collection there’s a good deal of invention going on.

  2. This is only half! There’s such beautiful detailing on the back! check it out on style.com. Overall I think it’s a beautiful collection! The head pieces I’m still absorbing…

  3. Details are INCREDIBLE. I love the Swans and feathers! Givenchy couture never disappoints me. Its always romantic and gothic. Those pink dresses are to die for. Dior and Givenchy always present best Couture!

  5. It’s amazing, but it’s a bit too similar to their spring 2010 couture line. However, the back of each look is really incredible and Givenchy would always be my favorite fashion house.

  6. They are ok, and it’s pretty similiar to the last one presentation in some ways. I think it’s funny how people say “you didn’t understand” the collection, just because you think it’s ugly. Don’t like it and the hats are awful.

  7. Beautiful collection. People can say that it’s a bit similar to his previous work, but I think it’s still inventive and gorgeous. I love that it’s an all Asian cast of models too. Ai, Tao, Liu, Hye, Shu, Fei Fei, Du, and Hye are all some of my favorites!

  9. The backs of the dresses are really the best part of the collection and I like the ridiculous hats, theatricality is always a good thing to me especially in couture.

  11. i totally hope to see the third dress down in some actress at the oscars… THIS COLLECTION IS SPECTACULAR … the hats are just for representation of the inspiration… this will deffinitely be iconic for me forever

  13. For me, it’s feel like “Kabuto suite” fusion with “Gundam mobile suit” transform to couture dresses. Incredible and amazing.
And that Asian power!! More that word for me.

  14. I am overwhelmed. Tisci is just a genius. The headpieces add a sense of fun, but it is all about the beautifully detailed looks. I love the cast – seeing Du Juan is always a treat and she has one of the best looks too! Ming’s is my other favorite.

Funny how the fluffyness doesn’t bother me here as in the pref-all. I think the color helps – more evocative of a swan than a muppet.

Thank you Tisci, just thank you.

  15. Does anyone else see the McQueen influence here? Reminds me of his last collection, including the kitschy headwear and the way the collection’s photographed…

  16. The best Haute couture collection this season, my favorites are the first yellow dress on Fei Fei, and the second with the yellow hat…. Oscar’s red carpet material
