In light of John Galliano’s recent anti-Semitic remarks and his subsequent firing from Dior, focusing on the fall 2011 collection for its actual garments and not the controversy surrounding its ex-creative director is surely a difficult task. Nevertheless, the show must go on, and the show did go on this Friday with models parading down the runway in Galliano’s signature romantic Parisian flair. The color palette took was very autumn with deep burgundy, gothic black and emerald greens. Towards the end, the designs became more light and airy, showcasing ruffled dresses that were a cheeky cross between lingerie and evening wear.
For the finale, the label’s design atelier took to the stage–signaling the end of an era for Dior. John Galliano’s successor has yet to be named and with only speculation so far, it looks like the fashion world will have to wait for some time yet before Dior’s next chapter begins.
This is VERY Galliano, but I can’t say I like it. I’m not one for Galliano’s work at Dior, for me it’s always the same.
I’m actually more struck by Christophe Decarnin and Balmain than I am by this whole shitstorm.

This is gorgeous!
Wonderful work, may not be for everyone but, beautiful just the same. For the rest of us, a virtual closet via http://www.fashion-ade.com/ helps us see all our outfit options.
This collection is perfection! I think i’m gonna cry now … Too bad
I agree, he’s great even next to McQueen, I would call them brothers as far as creativity is concerned
What an unfortunate event Galliano was in. It’s upsetting.

What a lovely collection. I’d have any of those lace dresses right now.

I’m heartbroken. I hope he finds his way out of this maelstrom of horror and finds sobriety..
Hope Dior can find someone who as good as Galliano is. For his personal bullshit I don’t know the truth, but for his work NOTHING CAN COMPARE.
This is great goodbye collection, Very Galliano, Very Dior

working in extreme conditions in the fashion world, one pushes ones self to the edge. alexander mcqueen walked this edge and we no longer have him. sometimes the edge can be slippery. chrisian dior, along with john galliano and his teams fashions were spectacular today on the runway in paris.with all the distraction and hoopla surrounding john galliano and christian dior, the end result of the day was stunning. the funny thing is, if i may say so, is how well john galliano worked with so many to bring this collection together. unfortunately his misspoken words on the internet have hurt many people. i watched the first attempt by natalie portman to respond only to see her shushed for the moment. then she eventually read a heart felt statement condemning john galliano. it is without a doubt understandable how she felt, considering that her legacies were brought to an end in a concentration camp in world war two. this is too close to the heart to ignore. but i must say, john did not kill them. i happen to believe that he was provoked and a bad decision was made in a drunken reply to strike out in a malicious way. i can only hope that he was trying to bite back, and in his attempt went awry and spoke words that were more for effect than a version of his beliefs. one thing i know is, we can all forgive. i have to say that we can’t forget the action, but forgiveness is a virtue that brings us to a higher level. on this day in march, we saw what the genius of john galliano is. year after year he brought his game to the fashion world and conquered. it was always a colorful, bold, imaginative effort that came unabated every year through all the stresses brought on by meeting schedules and unrealistic expectations that would drive a lesser individual to their end. yes, it drove john galliano to his possible demise. it drove him to drink and drugs and yet he created unbelievably beauty through all the pressure. it probably drove him mad. in his room in rehab, i imagine he can only look out the window and wish he had not done what he did. but that day is past. we as humans can condemn or we can forgive. that’s our choice. that’s everones choice including natalie portman. so far she chose to condemn. but time passes and we can change. we all can breathe and wake each day and wonder what we all can do be a better person. i believe that john galliano deserves this chance also.

i still love galliano despite what he has said, and i think he’s a talented designer, it’s gonna be Dior loss. and sometimes i just don’t get it, people make mistakes, but Dior just fired him just like that without giving him a second chance. after 15years he dedicated his work for Dior. so i’m really-really dissapointed.

it made me cry. i can’t believe it all happened. i’m really grieving this one.
karlie at the beginning in the cape reminded me of ‘the seventh seal’.
perhaps in a way galliano did in fact play a game of chess with death….
The most beautiful collections by Galliano that I’ve ever seen!! Dior always become my favorite because of him…. i cant imagine what happen to Dior in the future…. really great loss!!

The clothes are a mess, sure a brilliant mess, because as a designer Galliano is certainly touched by genius. But such a mishmash of styles and themes will never make a cohesive and memorable whole and it is regrettable that this will be the parting shot.
For me some magnificent pairs of boots and the egomaniacal recreation of Galliano’s Pirate persona (especially as carried by the genius of Karlie on the catwalk) are the standouts, cardigans layered by leather coats not so much.
J’adore Dior <3

GALLIANO IS THE BEST!
He can sober up and apologize until he’s blue in the face and want remains is that he endorsed the gassing of Jews by the greatest monster ever put on this earth. This HATE has to end.

Galliano was crucified for words. The same thing happened to Jesus Christ.
You just compared Hitler lover to Jesus Christ……*SMH* :(((
Those boots are to die for.
