Balenciaga’s outing for fall 2011 was a strong one with creative director Nicolas Ghesquière’s futuristic vision taking on thick leather coils and vertical stripes. Color blocking also made an appearance alongside a fishnet pattern which was blown up to cover sleeves and even whole dresses. The Balenciaga woman looked armored this season, taking on a juxtaposition of hard and soft materials for a story of contrast.
I dont know, im a HUGE fan of Balencaga, but the last few collections are lacking something. Its all very repetitive. There is not a lot of innovation in these designs. Some of it reminded me of Christopher Kane prints but darker. Fall and Spring 2010 were FAR more superior and innovative.

Christopher Kane is the very first thing I thought of. That floral print, with the stripes on top (except CK’s stripes were neon)….glad I wasn’t the only one to see it.
what a disappointment ):

I agree that the last few collections haven’t been as great, but this one has a lot of good pieces. I think the styling is hurting it a little bit, here.
Don’t get it at all. The models look like a bunch of sick people who are wearing a pile of cloths to get warm.
This is a great example of how make-up and styling can make or break a show.
spectacular, such a cohesive and dynamic collection
