For their fall 2011 collection, Viktor & Rolf looked towards the medieval age for inspiration. Models walked down the runway with red faces, the designer duo’s signature avant garde shapes with armor-like pleats and large flower motifs which served as a sort of coat of arms. Ending with a parade of metallic dresses, Viktor & Rolf’s finale ended in the Silver Age and was overall a strong showing for the Dutch pair.

ahh the red faces are so distracting for me! Its fortunate that the collection mostly has ridiculously huge details, or I would of missed them completely staring their tomato heads. That being said, the reiteration of the pleated pauldron jacket at the top of page 2 in white is magnificent

This collection is *GASP* insanely wearable!
I love all of the clothes but the red faces ruined it for me. 🙁
i see a lot of there previous collections in this but used with different fabrics
there were some really great clothes…. but the red faces with the white outfits reminded me of tampons. yes, i know, i am immature.
What’s with the red faces? Are they choking, are they shy? Soooo distracting! I love the collection though! Every piece makes a statement!

i believe the red faces are refering to The Maid of Orléans, as she’s been burnt alive even though this collection is supossed to be medieval inspired.
a red face is not only paint on a face, just take at least 5 minutes to think of SOMETHING, please!
loving this clothes so much, i bet she would rock those boots nowadays.
Thank you. The “Red Face” complaints were beginning to bug me–is it so shocking to step outside the box? What happened to fantasy?!
You are right of course, the entire collection has Jeanne d’Arc emblazoned all over it. It’s gorgeous wearable armour.
didn’t mean to offend with my comment. yes, i am sure you’re both staring down your noses at me and my warped sense of humor. given i knew what the show was about and assumed that others did too, but i am probably really stupid and fashion ignorant and i am sure you are both industry insiders with years of experience, invited to all the right events and dressed so fashionably well, sitting front row between the names that really matter. it is too bad i didn’t not take the five minutes to think and use my brain, but i don’t know how really, nor do i know how to step outside of a box or understand fantasy, so let me just go back to blindly devouring what is thrown to me by those above and consuming in my falsely happy and gluttonous ways.
just pat yourselves on your backs and be happy that you are so insightful and so much smarter than everyone else. and so droll! and so serious! ya! right! OK!

Cool it, Coolit…
No one’s looking to offend you or anyone else. Of course you are entitled to your opinion and mode of expression —plus I’m assuming that if you frequent this blog, you do so because you have strong ideas about design. For myself, I was merely expressing dismay at a current tendency towards conservatism in fashion critiques.

hee, hee. i just find the commenting fun. i don’t even care or take things so personally. i’m just bored right now so i troll this site a lot. anyway, i did make my nasty little joke about the tampons because this show was rather disturbing and the red faces really brought the torture and suffering to the forefront. so i had to find some way to laugh. the clothes were incredible – the concept was incredible – the red faces were incredibly disturbing, but without them the show would have lost all drama. i too find the new conservatism in fashion less than desirable.
you’re a funny one. cheers!
