Candy Girl – Vogue Australia’s May issue goes punk for its colorful cover shoot starring Julia Nobis with multi-colored hair and high octane looks from the spring season. Styled by fashion editor Naomi Smith, Julia sports a selection of show stopping looks from labels such as Valentino, Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior in Kai Z Feng’s dynamic studio shoot.
Julia looks great in a couple of shots but she and the photographer fall over badly in the rest of the shoot, maybe it’s just that the clothes are awful!
Agreed; I’m more concerned with the corny-ass captions on each photo. Turkish delight? Licorice twist?? lol

AGREED! the styling is just hedious and the ridiculous hair doesn’t go with anything…plus, there is no consistency among the looks…
Fail…

Love the colors and her hair is this shoot. It’s something different from the norm.

Actually the captions go with the candy theme, kind of cute imo.

Meh this shoot is quite awful tbh.
Aus Vogue has been doing some great things, and i buy it every month, but Julia is no model to me, she looks bored, and has no facial expression. She is wearing brights, fun clothing, shouldn’t her mood match that like so many international editorials which are doing this trend? And the clothes as a whole dont go together, but love the title would have gone great with another edit.
This photographer is like a baby David Sims. It’s like he read a book on “How to be David Sims” and copied the “formula”. Where’s the heart? Where’s the soul in these images? Or is it just for the money. He’s a young photographer and he needs to come into his OWN style, not someone else’s style.
The clothing is wonderful and the quality of the photography is certainly good. Consider aligning the playful and fun garments to the coaching of the model. The poses should mimic the feel of the clothing. Why can’t she be having fun?
looooooove julia, she is so fkn cool
except i want to get that hair-do, cut it up, throw it in a campfire and dance around it singing kumbah-yah
