  1. i wish they were in black and white. and if Lindbergh had it his way, I bet they would be too.

and if they were in black and white, it might make the pictures last a little longer. (a bit more timeless)

this will just get cast aside in a few weeks and forgotten about.

a set like this, and a woman like witherspoon and a photographer like Peter Lindbergh. so much potential, blown yet again by american vogue. such a waste.

  2. Amazing! SO great to see her with different hair! Hairs stylist Julien D’Ys really gave her a new look that really brings out her features!

  3. Where is the Lindbergh magic on that spread? Not all models (in this case actress) make it happen with him.

    • You’re very right. It’s not Dovima, and it’s not Irving Penn. It’s Reese Whiterspoon and the elephant photo was by Avedon.

And why? just because it Avedon has shot elephants no one else can? The shot is entirely different and not even trying to emulate.

Lindeberg is pre-eminent. He doesn’t try to or need to emulate anyone.

  4. Oto_ if you’re going to say something like that, at least get it CORRECT!!!

    It’s RICHARD AVEDON!!!

just proves yet again, how much people don’t know their stuff and there for cannot critique on anything.

sorry, but no excuse for mentioning another photographer for what is arguably considered the most famous fashion photograph. shot by one of the most famous fashion photographers of all time.

  6. Its very US Vogue-like. Very commercial, not memorable at all, and just plain meh. This obsession with mediocrity in USA has been translated into our fashion world wayy too deeply. I dont care for Reese. I dont care to see YET ANOTHER generic Hollywood actress talking about her perfect life and quest for privacy. We need models on Vogue. HIGH FASHION MODELS! I want my Vogue to be fantasy like, not JcPenny catalogue like.

  7. Joke:

Did you hear about the famous hollywood actress just murdered? Oh god, what was her name, I can’t remember…um…Reese, Witha..Witha…oh i forget her name. Reese witha…

    *They then say* WithaSpoon!

    A: No with a knife!

    boom boom.

  9. The circus theme is ripe for creativity (see Karen Elson by Meisel, Vogue Italia April 07)……….this is just so lacklustre.
