ALDO’s New Look–The fall-winter 2014 campaign marks the start of a new vision for ALDO. To go with its new, low-key cool vibe, the shoe brand taps Alasdair McLellan to shoot the new advertisements starring Adwoa Aboah, Kel Markey and Dana Drori. Portraits of the fashion faces are paired with closeups of fall shoe styles including heels, wedged boots and sneakers. Douglas Bensadoun, Chief Creative Officer for ALDO says about the new ads, “It’s about connecting with what’s right for you, what resounds with you, ultimately, what’s perfect for you.”
Unfortunately, in the wake of breaking their deal with Terry Richardson these seem to pale in comparison. The shots are not engaging, they don’t showcase the shoes in my opinion, and the shots of just the shoes lack a great artistic vibe. Overall, its far more drab then the advertising campaign from before. By all means, ditch Terry but don’t subject yourself to lackluster attempts to appear the same – but different – keep the bright colors, keep the fun (after all, that’s what shoes are) but ditch Terry.
