Despite rumors of Hedi Slimane, Riccardo Tisci and even Tom Ford; Gucci looked in-house for its new creative director after the departure of Frida Giannini. According to WWD, Gucci and Kering announced that Alessandro Michele—who worked as Giannini’s associate, will assume the role. Fashion watchers got a first glimpse of Michele’s new direction for the brand with Gucci’s mens collection shown on January 19th when Giannini was denied her final collection. The 70s inspired, androgynous looks were described as a bold and new take compared to his predecessor’s designs.
