Spring 2011 marks Sarah Burton’s first season as creative director of Alexander McQueen after the designer’s recent passing in February. Burton has said before that she would bring a more feminine and tender quality to the designs, and the garments presented were certainly more softer than previous collections. With the play of silhouettes and textures, it is apparent that Burton is paying homage to the late designer with references to past seasons. Overall, the spring collection proved to be a more than adequate effort in paying tribute to McQueen’s legacy. One can only hope that we will see more of Burton’s own creative vision in the future.
Greaaaaaaaat, It represents totally Mcqueen, maybe a little more color would’ve been better!

Kudos to Sarah on her debut! The collection amazingly embodies McQueen’s past works. However, she definitely has some large shoes to fill for future collections.

congratulations on keeping the mcqueen spirit alive
Sarah did a great job, even though i miss the feeling I used to have when looking at his collections, this represents McQueen. The only thing I was kind of disappointed with was the shoes..

This is a great debut for her. Expectations of her were extremely high, and she delivered respectfully. It will be an interesting transition between McQueen aesthetic and Burton signature, and I for one am excited to see what she does for the brand. So far, so good. Keep up the good work Sarah.
As far as collection is concerned, I love the mix of her resort line, his spring & fall shapes, graphics, and feathers, and that hair is just awesome. Amazon woman, but with haute couture precision.
Surprisingly well done. The pressure on her in this situation must have been incredibly high.
It will be challenging to see if she can grow into the space and the duality of respecting the great Alexander McQueen, while being able to show her our spirit in the design. Definitely a trying time.. a bit similar to KVA’s abrupt takeover of DH from Hedi.. and that didn’t turn out fantastic.
