For his spring-summer 2017 collection, Alexander Wang looked to his California roots for a surfer and tomboy inspired collection of elevated basics. Wang opened on a light note, showcasing casual tanks and cropped shirts with striped shorts. Elsewhere, the Wang woman took on Bermuda shorts as well as leopard spots and cropped sweatshirts. Bags referenced surf culture too with accessories including colorful cuffs like a surf boarder’s foot straps.
In lieu of swimsuits, Wang sent out a series of pajama inspired bralettes and skirts trimmed with lace in neon hues. And while the designer does not do evening wear, he approached nighttime dressing with sequin adorned skirts, slinky cutout dresses in black and mesh overlay.
