Earlier this week we learned that Anthony Vaccarello has been named Hedi Slimane’s successor at Saint Laurent. Before that, the Belgian designer was photographed for the May 2016 issue of Harper’s Bazaar US. The 33-year-old posed alongside his model muse Anja Rubik in photographs captured by Driu + Tiago. Anja flaunts some skin in an embellished dress, leather jacket and lingerie inspired top.
In his interview, Anthony talks about Hedi Slimane, the business side of fashion and celebrities on the red carpet. “I have a lot of respect for him, doing what he believes in. He doesn’t give a s–t. I think (his work at YSL) is great,” he says about Slimane.

The designer also revealed his thoughts on the future of luxury. “We have to take a break and stop running after the customer. Luxury has to be slower. If we try to keep up with the faster outside world, we die. When brands try too hard to sell 10 million coats, you don’t want to keep buying. You don’t need clothes! It’s about desire and creating desire. We need images and we need to dream, but we don’t need another shirt.”
