Less than a week after Hedi Slimane’s departure was announced, Kering–Yves Saint Laurent’s parent company–has named Belgian designer Anthony Vaccarello as the brand’s new creative director. According to Business of Fashion, the 33-year-old designer also left his post at Versus Versace.
“Mr Saint Laurent is a legendary figure for his creativity, style and audacity,” says Vaccarello in a statement. “I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the history of this extraordinary house.”
Vaccarello, who is known for slim, body conscious silhouettes appears to be a smart fit for the Paris fashion brand. The designer’s first collection for YSL will be presented in October of this year during the spring 2017 previews.
