Balmain looks to the future for its fall-winter 2022 campaign photographed by Mert & Marcus. Models Lila Moss, Chu Wong, Aweng Chuol, Cristina Jugo, and Tanya Churbanova are featured in these photographs. The advertisements are set against a desolate landscape that resembles a desert planet’s surface and includes green stairs.

The designs from creative director Olivier Rousteing showcase figure-hugging dresses, tops that are inspired by corsets, and blazer silhouettes. In the accessories department, black leather bags with gold-tone hardware stand out. Charlotte Stockdale and Katie Lyall are responsible for the styling.

With unlikely pairings of light, delicate details and symbols of security, alongside nods to the house’s couture tradition, Creative Director Olivier Rousteing offers a hope-filled message for the future: “We need not be defenseless in the face of toxic pile-ons, if we can depend on individual honesty, collective empathy and shared hopes for progress.”

In one shot, Lila Moss wears a futuristic ensemble with a structured top and knit dress underneath while wearing a dark wig. In another picture, Cristina Jugo can be seen wearing a white tailored dress with strong shoulders as well as moon boots with out-of-this-world platforms.
Jawara is in charge of the hair, and Lucia Pica is responsible for the makeup for the shoot. Casting was done by Julia Lange Casting, and Gerard Santos did set design. Chisato also works on the models’ manicures.
