For Chanel’s spring-summer 2016 haute couture collection, Karl Lagerfeld was in a tranquil mood for the runway showing held in Paris’ Grand Palais. Models walked a runway including natural greenery with wood. The zen atmosphere was complemented by designs in a neutral color palette of beiges including ivory, sand, taupe and mocha.
“The starting point for this collection was the silhouette,” Karl Lagerfeld reveals in the show notes. Playing with proportion and volume, the Chanel woman wears her signature tweed with long skirts and rounded shoulders. Evening wear gets embellished with rhinestones, feathers, flower appliqués and even wood.
Casting for the show included social media stars Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and her sister, Bella. With models wearing their hair in “coiled chignons” and dramatic black eye makeup, the Chanel woman brings some drama to her tranquil looks.
