For spring-summer 2017, Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld transformed the Grand Palais into a massive data center complete with wiring, cables and cords in technicolor. Lagerfeld looked to the inner workings of technology with a sporty twist for the new collection. The classic Chanel tweed suit was transformed with swingy A-line shapes and blocks of “tape” covering some jackets. Piping detail was a mainstay on the runway with outlines of vibrant blue, burgundy and turquoise. Baseball caps in colorful prints and hues were worn sideways for a 90’s twist. About halfway through the show, Lagerfeld introduced colorful neon prints that looked like ‘Tron’ lights. More down to earth hues of white, powder pink and black were emphasized in the last section full of slip dresses and lace trims.
