Louis Vuitton Delivers Rich Brocades for Spring 2018

Joanna Elizabeth / Published October 4, 2017

For Louis Vuitton’s spring-summer 2018 runway show, artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière fused 18th century aristocracy with modern-day street wear. The French designer opened the show with a series of embroidered jackets layered over running shorts with lace-up sneakers. From rich florals to gilded gold and silver metallics, the pieces paid tribute to a time long gone while remaining current.

As the show progressed, Ghesquière introduced bubble-shaped dresses, graphic stripes and balloon sleeved blouses. The statement piece of the season was a ‘Stranger Things’ t-shirt worn over a puffed blouse and pink trousers. For lighter options, shapeless dresses with silver embroideries and fringe brought a touch of romance to the new season.
