In his sophomore outing for the brand, Seán McGirr channels Irish folklore, drawing inspiration from the mysterious legend of the Banshee for McQueen’s spring-summer 2025 runway show.
Picking up where his debut collection left off, McGirr delves deeper into the house codes, reinterpreting them with a dark, romantic twist. The atmosphere was set as models stepped onto the catwalk, shrouded in a misty veil.
The McQueen woman emerged, personified in tailored silhouettes, ruffle-adorned dresses, and edgy leather ensembles, exuding an air of gloomy elegance. The color palette blended contrasts: somber black, pristine white and muted greige tones were punctuated by jolts of vibrant yellow, pink, and citron green, adding a pop to the proceedings.
For evening wear, gravity-defying dresses and gowns flaunted intricate embroidery featuring hand-drawn designs that seemed to whisper ancient secrets. In a nod to British heritage, sculptural boots and sneakers were adorned with traditional brogue detailing.
Jewelry, too, played a surprising role, incorporating hairbrushes and combs in a clever allusion to the Banshee’s eerie, otherworldly presence. Handbags are curved and sleek with signature T-bars and leather charms adorning the accessories.
