  1. Crystal herself is so stunning, love the cover, I feel like the actual editorial could have been done better somehow. Good, but not great.

    • Actually I find her pretty terrible in editorials and thought this was pretty good by her standards, must be David’s influence.

  6. This is what you get when you have a catalog photographer shoot an editorial… Looks like a Macy’s catalog… Don’t even get me started on the bad styling, hair and makeup.. Poor Crystal

  7. I was sitting around, missing Renn yesterday and here she is. She’s got one of my favorite faces in the industry.

  10. I’m surprised no one has mentioned the topic it seems is always mentioned in the same breath as the name ‘Crystal Renn’: her weight.

My comment is by no means a criticismā€”great bone structure, beautiful girl, fond of her personality (or at least what’s been exposed via media), etc.

On the contrary, the first thing I thought upon seeing these imagesā€”even and especially the cover, for that matterā€”is: this is a ‘plus-size’ model?

Anyone know if she’s still categorized as such? Because the claims she made in the past about having not lost weight? Well, unless there was a helluva lot of photo-shop (ditto, the recent Interview magazine editorial in which she appeared with Fei Fei Sun)…

    • No, she’s not a plus-sized model. She’s an in-between model, or as she likes to say ‘just a model’

      • Thanks for the response. Totally back the response of ‘Just A Model.’

Slight shift of gears, but for all the girls who’ve ever been dropped from agencies for gaining weight, can’t help but wonder if there’s ever been one from a plus-size division who’s ever been dropped for not keeping weight on.

As for “JJovana3″: You type well for a cadaver. I would reiterate that my question was neither a criticism nor dramatic, but clearly you have weight issues of your own. Otherwise? Talking about models without acknowledging a change in his or her physicality is akin to going swimming without water. Ohmygawd, let me guess: no one should mention that Kate Moss isn’t 5’9” either? I know it’s a big, bad world out there, and it’s tough to consider: but a model’s looks *might* actually have something to do with her career.

        • “can’t help but wonder if there’s ever been one from a plus-size division who’s ever been dropped for not keeping weight on.”

I wouldn’t be surprised. Sometimes on ANTM they talk about contestants who are sort of in between / contestants who’ve been gaining weight and address the difficulties of categorizing them, since the market these days seems to be divided between size 4 models and size 12 + up, and nothing in between.

  11. Poses are quite awkward. Especially the one with purple jumpsuit, but makeup is amazing. I love the blue smokey eye.

And seriously, this whole Crystal weight, and plus size drama and talk bores me to death. Move on people.

  19. Thing is, Crystal fights for it not to matter. People are criticizing her from going from a size 12 to a size 8 — as if she had more control over that, somehow, than what her body chose to do with the food after anorexia (going from 0 to 12). Bodies do what the fuck they want to do in terms of weight. If she is settling differently now because her activity and metabolism are different, that should be FINE. She’s still beautiful and healthy and therefore should still be able to model.
