Alessandro Michele

Alessandro Michele is an Italian fashion designer most famous for being the creative director of Gucci. Born in Rome, he studied costume design at Rome’s Academy of Costume and Fashion. Throughout his career, he worked at Fendi and then at Gucci where he designed leather goods starting in 2002. In January 2015, Alessandro became Gucci’s creative director taking over from Frida Giannini. Thanks to his unique, eclectic aesthetic which embraces colors and embellishment, he helped to dramatically increase sales for the brand. Inspiration was drawn from sources such as movies, artwork, the 1930s, and more. Alessandro designs the brand’s ready-to-wear collections for men and women as well as accessories. In November 2022, Kering announced he would step down from the brand.
