The controversy about a recent Dolce & Gabbana interview has reached its peak with Elton John and other celebrities threatening boycott due to comments about IVF treatments and gay adoption. Now, the designers have sat down with CNN for an exclusive interview where they aimed to clarify their views. Dolce told the news organization that “I believe in the traditional family.” He continued, “It is impossible to change my culture for something different. It’s me… I respect all the world, all the culture.”
Dolce & Gabbana’s CNN Interview
Gabbana appeared to disagree over IVF treatments with Dolce though. When asked about having children through the procedure he responded with: “Yeah, I don’t have anything bad, because the beauty of the world is freedom.” They also said they have no problem with gay adoption and did not want to boycott Elton John. Dolce said that he sings John almost every day. “Every people [has] freedom for choosing what they want. This for me is democracy. I respect you because you choose what you want. I respect me because I choose what I want… This just my point of private view,” Dolce went on to say.
Madonna Gives Her Opinion
Pop icon Madonna, and face of previous Dolce & Gabbana campaigns, has given her opinion on the debacle. She uploaded a past campaign image on Instagram featuring an image of herself posing with a baby along with the following caption: “All babies contain a soul however they come to this earth and their families. There is nothing synthetic about a soul!! So how can we dismiss IVF and surrogacy? Every soul comes to us to teach us a lesson.”
