Inspired by fairy tales, Dolce & Gabbana’s fall-winter 2016 show brought an element of fantasy to day five of Milan Fashion Week. With references to Disney’s versions of ‘Cinderella’, ‘Snow White’, and ‘Alice in Wonderland’, the Italian label sent out over ninety looks full of glamour and opulence. The designers’ signature floral prints and forties inspired silhouettes were on full display with ankle-length dresses sometimes cinched at the waist. Cinderella’s mice made an appearance embroidered on a white dress while a blue and shimmering blue dress with puffy sleeves served as a high fashion version of Alice’s babydoll dress.
But of course, every princess needs her Prince Charming which was represented by military inspired jackets and boleros embellished with reflective orbs and loops. Besides florals, houndstooth prints made an impression on the runway with oversized coats and skirts embellished with clocks, marching men and horses. Ending on a glittering note, Dolce & Gabbana sent out a parade of models in sparkling sequin dresses with silver or pink hues.
