With Disney making live action versions of ‘Cinderella’ with Lily James and now ‘Beauty and the Beast’ with Emma Watson as Belle, we could not help but think of what other stars would make good Disney princesses. From ‘The Little Mermaid’ to ‘Pocahontas’, we came up with eight actresses that we would like to see on the big screen as Disney heroines. Check out our dream casting choices below.
Pocahontas – Devery Jacobs
Devery Jacobs is a First Nations actress who landed a 2014 Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Actress in the film ‘Rhymes for Young Ghouls’. She reportedly auditioned for the role of Tiger Lily in the 2015 film, ‘Pan’. We think this rising star would be a great choice to play Pocahontas. Photo: Disney/Instagram
Ariel from The Little Mermaid – Bella Thorne
With her red hair, Bella Thorne would make a perfect Ariel from ‘The Little Mermaid’. She is best known for her Disney show, ‘Shake it Up’, and most recently starred in the teen film, ‘The DUFF’. Photo: Disney/Shutterstock.com
Rapunzel in Tangled – Amanda Seyfried
Amanda Seyfried is an American actress whose breakout role was in the 2004 film, ‘Mean Girls’. She has also starred in ‘Big Love’, ‘Les Misérables’ and ‘Mamma Mia’. Seeing her diverse acting roles, she would no doubt be amazing as a live-action Rapunzel in ‘Tangled’. Photo: Disney/Shutterstock.com
Mulan – Constance Wu
Constance Wu is a Chinese-American actress most well-known for her role as Jessiaca Huang on the ABC comedy, ‘Fresh Off the Boat’. Constance was named a breakout star by E! for her acting on the show. We think she would make an amazing Mulan. Photo: Disney/Shutterstock.com
Jasmine from Aladdin – Freida Pinto
Freida Pinto is an Indian actress known for her breakout role in the Oscar-winning film ‘Slum Dog Millionaire’. Don’t you think Freida would make a marvelous Jasmine from ‘Aladdin’? Photo: Disney/Shutterstock.com.
Aurora from Sleeping Beauty – Gabriella Wilde
Gabriella Wilde is an English actress and model known for her roles in ‘Carrie’ and ‘The Three Musketeers’. With her long blonde hair, she would be a nice choice for a live-action version of ‘Sleeping Beauty’. Photo: Disney/Shutterstock.com.
Tiana from The Princess and the Frog – Keke Palmer
Keke Palmer is well-known for her roles in ‘Akeelah and the Bee’ as well as the Nickelodeon show ‘True Jackson, VP’. Despite being only 21, she has plenty of acting experience, and we think she would make an amazing Tiana from ‘The Princess and the Frog’. Photo: Disney/Shutterstock.com.
Snow White – Lucy Hale
Known for her role as Ana on ‘Pretty Little Liars’, Lucy Hale has the looks and now the hair (thanks to her new bob) to play a live-action version of Snow White. Look, she can even pull off the red lipstick. Photo: Disney/Instagram.
