She points out that many of her essays have nothing to do with modeling. One is about childbirth, another about a high school boyfriend. “To me, the book is more about what it means to be a woman in a very specific industry that profits from perpetuating certain beauty standards and women’s images,” she says. “I believe the experience I have is what every woman has, just heightened.”
