Iman looks incredible for the January 2023 cover of Vogue UK. The Somali supermodel lands two images captured by Nadine Ijewere. Styled by Kate Phelan, the first image shows her wearing a gown and skull cap from Norma Kamali with red gloves by Sun Woo.
A second cover shows her in an Alaïa dress paired with Norma Kamali flared pants and bangles from Alexis Bittar. The January issue of British Vogue hits newsstands on December 20th. Finishing her look, Jawara works on Iman’s hair with dramatic eye makeup by Grace Ahn.
In addition to being a cover star, you can also see Iman pose for UGG advertisements from last year. As one of the world’s leading Black models who broke barriers in the fashion world, she talks to the magazine about diversity in the industry.
“People are starting to feel like, ‘We’ve done enough.’ As if we are a charity. Don’t give me a handout, because that in itself is a racist act. The reason a lot of [racist] things are happening in our industry is because there is nobody [non-white] in decision-making positions. These people exist. So this idea that we are asking for a seat at the table… I’m done with the seat at the table. Let’s just dismantle the whole table.”
