The stunning Liu Wen is the cover girl of the December 2022 issue of Vogue China. She appears in two photographs taken by Margaret Zhang, who is also the magazine’s editor-in-chief. For the first image, the Chinese model wears a design by KWK by KAYKWOK that features voluminous sleeves and a brilliant pink color palette.
She poses against a background of patterned fabric in a rainbow of colors. In the second cover photo, Liu Wen shows off red hair and appears angelic, wearing a design by MARRKNULL that is comprised of an open-knit gown and matching wings. Vivienne Sun was in charge of styling.
Matt McDonald provides the shoot’s artistic direction, while Jumbo Tsui works on creative consultation for the project. Xue Meng Liu did Liu Wen’s hair, and He Lei did her makeup. You can see her latest work as the global accessories ambassador for Bulgari, in addition to her role as a cover model for magazines.
“When we work with guys, we present a certain side of ourselves for any number of reasons,” Liu Wen tells Vogue China. “But when working women, there’s a level of unspoken intimacy, there is nuance, there is a certain underlying trust and ease when we’re shooting, creating together. This really is a woman-to-woman dynamic.”
