Presenting his spring-summer 2016 haute couture collection in Paris, Elie Saab found inspiration in India with an outing of glittering looks. Citing the travels of an Anglo-Irish noblewoman Lilah Wingfield and her travels to Delhi Durbar in 1911, the collection combined Victorian elements with traditional Indian style.
From breezy mini dresses to loose-fitting trousers and draped gowns reminiscent of the sari, Saab creates a splendid vision including silk chiffon, crepe georgette, lace and beading. Besides the dresses, unexpected trousers, belt bags and combat boots brought a utilitarian element to the ethereal looks.
