Alessandro Michele’s second women’s collection for Gucci continued where the fall season left off, and the new creative director even manages to have a few new tricks up his sleeve. The runway show was presented at a closed off West 22nd Street in New York with designers Alexander Wang and Joseph Altuzarra as well as ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ star Dakota Johnson in attendance.
Going for a retro vibe that calls to mind the whimsical style of the 1960s and 1970s, Michele offered a colorful lineup of long-sleeved dresses, relaxed pantsuits and ladylike pleated skirts. With a bold color palette fully embracing jewel tones as well as pastels, his vision is becoming ever more clear for the Gucci brand with this second outing.
