Isabel Marant looks back on the eighties for her fall-winter 2016 collection presented during Paris Fashion Week. Although most people cringe when thinking of the decade in a style viewpoint, Marant reminds us that it wasn’t all ‘Dynasty’ era sequins and shoulder pads. Although the French designer did play with strong shoulders, it is subtle and suitable for the modern-day woman–reminiscent of New Wave style.
For prints, the designer embraces plaid, animal patterns and argyle diamonds. Mannish, oversized coats are worn over patent leather pants or short skirts that are high-waisted and belted. Chic ruffles, pleating and ruching covers dresses for when the Marant woman wants a more feminine moment.
