Wu’s Pop Art Spring – For spring 2012, Jason Wu delivered a collection that juxtaposed muted hues with a spring palette, giving the feminine dresses a look that that could easily transition from day to night. Starting off with retro, 40s inspired silhouettes, Wu’s protagonist brings a bit of toughness to the new season in the form of leather accents, spiked hair pieces and dramatic makeup. Wu notes that this season’s designs are inspired by pop artist Kaws. The influence can be seen in speckled prints that give way to bold hues ranging from blazing blue to canary yellow. Towards the end, shapes become more structured including heavy ruffles that brought a sense of haute couture elegance to Wu’s already classic aesthetic.
LOVE.

Feminine yet edgy. Jason Wu made that tried concept fresh again.
I liked some of these looks, but all I kept thinking is, these models need a pedicure, stat! Seriously, even a nude color on the toenails would have looked better than nothing. Ick.
