Summer Pleasures—In a special Sofia Coppola guest-edited issue, W Magazine’s May cover story features none other than actress Kirsten Dunst. The blonde beauty and L’Oreal Professionnel face poses for German fashion photographer Juergen Teller in his signature snapshot style for a summer-themed shoot that goes from poolside to the indoors. Dunst wears designer looks from the likes of Louis Vuitton, Chloe and Michael Kors styled by Felicia Garcia Rivera in the sunny images. You can read Kirsten’s interview on WMagazine.com where she talks about getting older, her film choices and personal style.

I like the cover but I just can’t get into Juergen Teller’s photography. I think it’s so awful! I don’t understand how he keeps getting jobs shooting fashion & why Marc Jacobs has used his photos for so long for his ad campaigns. As for Kirsten Dunst, I think she’s got very thin lips that look kind of scary. P.S. The necklace she is wearing in the first picture looks exactly like the one that Jessica Alba wore to the 2013 Golden Globe Awards.
Its the feeling that his photos evoke. He has all the same lighting and composition techniques and know how as other professional photographers, but he makes a purposeful decision to execute his photos in this manner. There is an honesty to his work. Every other fashion shoot with Kirsten displays her in a completely different way, this one made me stop and look. Only photographers who have something to say with their camera can do that. I don’t think it is supposed to be overly flattering, compositionally perfect with perfect lighting ratios, etc. Its fine if you still think its awful, I just read your comment and thought it came from a place of misunderstanding.
